- The Franchise Council of Australia Honours Maxwell Scott Raine with Hall of Fame Induction
The Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) proudly honoured Maxwell Scott Raine posthumously as the 2024 inductee into the FCA Hall of Fame during a prestigious event in Melbourne. The Hall of Fame lunch celebrated Max’s exceptional contributions to Australasian real estate and his pivotal role in introducing franchising to Raine & Horne, which revolutionised the business and laid the foundation for the company's enduring success.
As one of the earliest pioneers to recognise the potential of franchising, Max led Raine & Horne to become one of the first real estate companies in Australia to embrace this innovative business model. His forward-thinking decision to adopt franchising in the early 1970s allowed the company to expand rapidly and efficiently, growing from a single Sydney-based firm to an international network of over 350 offices.
"This award is a testament to my father's visionary leadership and his dedication to innovation," said Angus Raine, Executive Chairman of Raine & Horne. "His passion for the business was evident in everything he did, and his early embrace of franchising set Raine & Horne on a course for remarkable growth. I am deeply honoured to accept this award on his behalf and continue the legacy he built."
Max Raine's pioneering move influenced other real estate businesses to follow suit. Today, Raine & Horne facilitates over $10 billion worth of property transactions annually, with operations across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia, India, and the UAE.
"Max Raine's early embrace of franchising marked a turning point in the Australian real estate industry," said Roger Wilson OAM, Hall of Fame Chair at FCA.
"His vision for the future of business and franchising helped shape Raine & Horne into the powerhouse it is today. By pioneering franchising within real estate and decentralising services through suburban offices, Max fundamentally changed how the industry operates.
“His leadership has left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of real estate and franchise professionals."
Beyond his business achievements, Max Raine was also a mentor and leader within the broader real estate and franchising communities. The FCA Hall of Fame honours individuals whose exceptional contributions have shaped the franchising industry, setting the standard for future leaders. Max Raine now joins a distinguished group of industry pioneers who have left an indelible mark on Australian franchising.
The Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) is the peak body for the franchise sector in Australia, representing franchisees, franchisors, and service providers. The FCA promotes excellence in franchising and advocates for a fair and sustainable franchising environment.
The FCA Hall of Fame induction serves as a reminder of Max Raine's remarkable achievements and his lasting impact on the real estate and franchising sectors. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide future generations of industry professionals.
